Palmerston North is the proud home of the Manawatu Turbos, numerous All Blacks, a nationally renowned training facility at Massey University, and last but not least the New Zealand Rugby Museum. Pay a visit to learn a little more about just how important the national sport is to us here in the Manawatu.
Te Apiti - Manawatu Gorge is a magnificent geographical structure formed over thousands of years by the Manawatu River. With its native bush and wildlife, Te Apiti is a time capsule that preserves the bush that once covered Manawatu, a place frozen in time.
We’re proud to call Palmerston North our home. The beautiful Manawatu River bridle path and famed Rose Gardens are within walking distance, offering fantastic views across the mountains to the south and east. From the connoisseur’s choice of cafes on George Street to the Plaza for fashion, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
Have you just finished a long car journey, checked into your room, taken a refreshing shower and unpacked your luggage? Unless you are feeling hungry, you might feel like stretching your legs a bit. Take a 15-minute walk south along Fitzherbert Avenue towards the Manawatu River, and you will find a choice of parks where the city bustle does not intrude, and you can get away from it all.
If you go for a walk in Fitzherbert Park, you will notice how sporty we are in Palmerston North. This park is a cricket ground also used for hockey and rugby. The chances of seeing sportsmen and women training here are very real.
Ongley Park is an excellent green space and well maintained. We are honestly proud of it. Children and dogs love it because it is ideal for burning off some energy. You can also get a bite to eat here. The orchid house and the rose garden are splendid, but most of all, we love the cherry blossoms in spring. Strolling along the riverside path is extra relaxing, and the view of the mountains is impressive.
There are more small parks in the south worth mentioning. In Wallace Park, you can watch a cricket match, but also football or tennis. In Hokowhitu Reserve, your children can have fun.
Once you have filled your lungs with fresh air, you can be back at your luxury hotel in 15 minutes.

Children up to about eight years old love to touch the trees from the top of the giant fort. Would you like to stay here a bit longer? The public toilets are clean, and picnic tables are available for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
The skate park used to be a rail yard. It can get a bit crowded at times, but that is no wonder as the children from Levin, Fielding skatepark, and even Foxton Beach come here to skate.
Other playgrounds worth mentioning are Marriner Street playground and Awapuni Park playground.
Ask us for information if you are taking a dog to the parks. They are allowed, but usually, they have to be on a leash.
